AHLEX (Aviation Hub for Learning and Innovation), formerly known as Aviato Academy, set out to create a space where technology, experience, and education come together. Their goal? To build an inspiring and digital environment that:
- Makes airport jobs for non-flying staff more attractive to job seekers.
- Offers training in realistic, interactive settings.
- Encourages innovation, co-creation, and entrepreneurship within the aviation sector.
To bring this vision to life, they needed a partner who could seamlessly blend technology with experience and that’s where we came in.
From blank canvas to interactive learning environment
Ocular was brought on board as the strategic and technological partner to design and realize the experience center. Through our proven Experience Design Program, we worked step by step toward a complete and immersive experience.
In close collaboration with the AHLEX team, we defined the entire visitor journey during a series of workshops, from first impression to final interaction. Every decision, from the choice of technology to the storytelling approach, was tailored to the project’s goals and its diverse audiences.


Technology as a tool for educational and inspiring experiences
The common thread in every project we take on is that technology is never the goal—it’s a means to achieve it. At the AHLEX experience center, we combined various techniques to both inspire visitors and help them truly learn.
Immersive projections bring realistic simulations to life, interactive touch tables and screens offer hands-on training, and VR makes complex airport processes tangible. Smart use of lighting and sound ensures that every message resonates and sticks. The tour concludes in the Lab Space, where visitors can delve deeper into the topics they just explored and where potential employees can discover which job suits them best.
In addition to the experience center, the location also features an Airport Studio with a hybrid meeting and learning environment.

Spanning over 670 m² of interactive space, the center caters to a wide range of users:
- Job seekers are immersed in the world of aviation and discover which roles suit them in a playful, engaging way.
- (Future) employees receive training in realistic scenarios, leading to better knowledge retention and performance.
- Companies use the space for innovation, training, and events.
